A Maryland man is behind bars after his mother-in-law was found dead inside a Walkersville home over the weekend, authorities said.
Pavel Obambe, 35, was arrested on Tuesday, June 24, and charged in the killing of Christine Liboula, 68, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Deputies responded just after 10 a.m. Sunday, June 22, to a home in the 8400 block of Foresight Lane for a report of an unconscious person.
When they arrived, deputies found Liboula dead inside the residence and immediately launched a death investigation.

Murder, Not Overdose: Maryland Mom’s Death Was Blunt Force Trauma, Police Say
A Maryland mother who was first believed to have overdosed was actually murdered, Anne Arundel County Police confirmed Tuesday.
Officers were called to the 1200 block of Lorene Court in Pasadena around 6:05 a.m. on Friday, April 4, for a report of a possible overdose, according to police on May 20.
At the scene, officers found evidence of narcotics, but also signs of an assault, the department said.
The victim, identified as 34-year-old Heather Elizabeth Beaver, was rushed to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, but was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.

Maryland Woman Found Shot Dead By Husband In Murder-Suicide, Police Say
A married couple found shot to death inside their Montgomery County home last week have been identified as victims of a murder-suicide, police said.
Kate Simoni Fralin, 61, was killed by her husband, William Scott Fralin, 63, inside their house on the 8500 block of Connecticut Avenue in Chevy Chase, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police.
Officers and fire rescue personnel were called to the scene around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, after someone found the couple dead with apparent gunshot wounds. A gun and ammunition were found nearby.

Human Remains Discovered In Maryland Park, Police Seeking Help Identifying Victim
Authorities are working to identify a young man whose remains were discovered in a Montgomery County park, according to police.
A hiker stumbled upon a human skull in a wooded area of Rock Creek Regional Park on Saturday, March 1, and immediately called 911, Montgomery County Police said.
Officers from Montgomery County Police and the Maryland National Capital Park Police responded to the scene, where they found additional human bones along with clothing items, including a winter hat, jacket, and pants.
