Pizza Hut has launched its first BOOK IT! app, the restaurant chain said in a news release on Tuesday, May 27. The new app comes days before the summer reading program officially starts on Sunday, June 1. Elementary Student Honored By Johns Hopkins After Exceptional ACT, SAT Scores An elementary student from Ellicott City has just been honored for being one of the brightest students in the world by Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY), officials say. Niveditha Baskar, a student at Deeprun Elementary School, received the honor after exceptional performance on the SAT and ACT. The young student took the tests as a part of the CTY Talent Search. Maryland Student Test Scores Alarm Educators, Majority Fall Below Basic Achievement In Math Maryland student scores followed a national declining trend on the 2022 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), continuing a downward trend that began in 2013 and worsened during the pandemic. The NAEP is a biennial assessment of fourth and eight graders for the subjects of reading and math. It measures achievement at four levels: below basic, basic, proficient, and advanced. Testing results showed that a majority of Maryland fourth and eighth graders were not proficient in math or reading.
