Clone-Creating Tick Invades Another East Coast State: Public Health Officials Sound Alarm Connecticut researchers have confirmed the presence of a fast-spreading invasive tick that could pose serious health risks to people and pets across the state. The longhorned tick, originally from eastern Asia, was recently detected during local field studies by the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station in partnership with the USDA. This marks another step in the tick's rapid expansion through the eastern United States. 10 Sheep Killed In Barn Blaze In Hudson Valley A devastating barn fire in Dutchess County early Tuesday morning, Feb. 18 claimed the lives of 10 sheep, officials said. The blaze happened at 546 North Quaker Hill Rd. at around 5 a.m., according to Pawling Fire Marshal Everett White. Upon arrival, crews found the structure engulfed in flames.  Tragically, 10 sheep inside the barn died in the fire.
